Regulation (EC) No 141/2000 of the European Commission and of the Council on orphan medicinal products sets up a Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products in the European Medicines Agency and lays down the composition of the Committee. The Commission is required to nominate three members to represent patients’ organization. The term of office of the three members of the Committee to represent patients’ organization is expiring at the end of June 2015. The Commission proceeds to a new appointment procedure.
The European Commission has now published a call for the expressions of interest to appoint the new members to represent patient organizations.
The candidates should be available for a three year term of office and willing to travel to London for monthly meetings.
The main task of the Committee is to examine applications for the designation of a medicinal product as an orphan medicinal product. The candidates should have experience to represent patients’ organizations at a European level and competencies relevant to the tasks of the Committee. The deadline for submission of applications is 1 December 2014.
